Who we are
Sam's Local Locksmith is a mobile locksmith based in West Chester, Pennsylvania. We work on locks and keys for cars, homes and businesses, and we do that work where the lock is: in your driveway, at your front door, in the parking lot outside your office or at the back door of your store. Our office in West Chester is open for visits by appointment only, because most of the day we are out at the door or the car that needs us.
Sam's Local Locksmith has been in business for 3 years. From the start we have kept the approach simple. We answer the phone, ask the right questions, tell people plainly when we can get to them, and do careful work where the lock is. Nothing about locks is mysterious once someone explains it, so we explain as we go.
That is also why we write the guides on this site. If your problem is something you can fix yourself, like a weak coin battery in a key fob or a steering wheel that is holding the ignition, we would rather tell you how than have you wait for us. When the job does need a locksmith, you will already know what to expect when we arrive.
What we do for cars, homes and businesses
Our work falls into four groups. Each one has its own page with the details, and every service in it is something we do on site.
For drivers, our automotive locksmith services cover car lockouts, car key replacement and duplication, key fob programming, new fob creation, transponder key programming, and ignition repair and replacement. Most of that work happens in the same parking spot where we found the car, with no tow involved.
For homeowners and renters, our residential locksmith services include lock replacement and repair, lock rekeying, deadbolt installation, smart lock installation, door lock repair and mailbox lock replacement. New homeowners often start with rekeying, so the keys handed out by the previous owners stop working.
For business owners and managers, our commercial locksmith services cover commercial lock installation, repair and rekeying, master key systems, panic bar installation, door closer installation and keyless entry systems built on keypad and code locks.
When something has gone wrong and cannot wait for a planned visit, our emergency locksmith services handle house lockouts, business lockouts, lost car key replacement, broken key extraction and safe opening.
- Cars: lockouts, keys, fobs, chips and ignitions
- Homes: rekeying, replacing, deadbolts, smart and keypad locks, mailbox locks
- Businesses: commercial locks, master keys, panic bars, closers and keypads
- Emergencies: lockouts, lost car keys, broken keys and safes
How a visit works
Every job starts with a phone call to (484) 488-7719. We ask what is going on, where you are, and what kind of car, door or lock is involved. Those few questions let us bring the right parts and tools, and they let us give you an honest answer about when we can be there. If we cannot reach you in a time that works for you, we say so on the phone, so you can make other plans.
If a child, a pet or anyone else is locked inside a car or a home, call 911 first. Emergency responders come before any locksmith in that situation, and you can call us once that call is made.
When we arrive, we look at the lock or the car before we touch anything. We tell you what we plan to do and why, and we answer your questions before the work starts. Then we do the job where the lock is and test it in front of you: the key turns, the bolt slides, the fob responds, the door latches. You can lock up when we finish.
- You call and tell us what is going on and where.
- We ask a few questions and give you an honest idea of when we can come.
- We arrive, look at the problem and explain what we plan to do.
- We do the work on site and test it with you before we leave.
Our hours are Sunday to Thursday from 7 AM to 10 PM and Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM. We are closed on Saturday.
Where we work
We are based in West Chester and work across Chester County, including Exton, Malvern, Downingtown, Phoenixville, Kennett Square and the communities around them. We also cover nearby towns in Delaware County, such as Media, and in Montgomery County, along with northern New Castle County in Delaware, including Wilmington.
Because we are mobile, the place we work is wherever your lock happens to be: a driveway, an apartment hallway, a parking lot, an office suite or the front entrance of a business. If you are not sure whether your address falls inside our area, call and ask. We will tell you plainly, and if it is outside our area, we would rather say so than keep you waiting.
What we focus on
We focus on the lock and the key. That means the cylinder, the bolt, the latch, the strike, the key itself, the chip inside it, the fob that goes with it, the keypad that replaces it, the closer and exit hardware that work with it, and the safe that depends on it. That is the work we do every day.
When a problem turns out to be outside the lock and the key, we tell you that plainly and early, so you can call the right trade instead of waiting on us. We would rather give you a straight answer than a vague one.
We also keep things simple and honest. We tell you when we can come, we explain the work before we start, and we test it before we leave. If you have a question about anything on this site, call us at (484) 488-7719 during our hours and ask.
