What panic bar installation covers
A business exit should open from inside with a push, even when entry from outside is restricted.
We install panic bars and other exit devices on business doors so you have a straightforward way to release the door from inside. You can choose an arrangement that keeps the outside locked while still allowing people to leave. If you need entry from outside, an exterior handle with a key gives you a way to unlock and use that side. That choice affects who can enter and how you secure the building.
A pair of doors needs a setup that works with both sides, rather than treating each one as an isolated opening. We install exit hardware suited to the way the pair opens and closes, including arrangements where one or both sides provide an exit. If an exit sticks or drags, adding hardware alone may not solve the problem. Avoid forcing the door or propping it open as a workaround. We look at how the opening operates and explain what the installation can address and whether the sticking needs separate work.
Signs you need panic bar installation
You may need a panic bar if an exit has no push bar and you must turn a knob, use a key or move a separate lock to get out.
A bar that feels loose, does not release the latch with a push, or leaves you pushing harder to open the door is another sign that the setup needs attention. Outside access matters too. If anyone can enter from outside while the door is closed, or you need an outside handle that works with a key, the existing hardware may not suit your business.
On a pair of doors, one side may stay shut while the other is hard to open, or the two sides may catch against each other. You might notice a gap that changes from top to bottom, a latch that misses its opening, or a panel that rubs the floor. Sticking and dragging can keep an exit device from working as it should, even if the bar itself moves. If you have to lift or pull the panel before it will open, that is a sign to have the whole opening looked at.
How the work goes
When you call, tell us whether you have a single exit door or a pair, and whether you want the outside locked or opened with a key.
Describe any sticking or dragging, along with the existing hardware. If you have a keyed outside handle you want to keep, we will check whether it works with the new device. Do not force a sticking exit or prop it open to make it easier to use. We look at the door material, available mounting space and how the opening closes, so we can identify a suitable setup.
For a pair, we check how the two leaves meet and which one needs the push device. We install the selected hardware and adjust the latch so it engages with the receiving plate. If the outside is to stay locked, we check that it cannot be opened from that side while a push releases it from inside. With keyed access, we test the key and outside operation as well. We also test each active leaf through its full swing. If dragging calls for repairs outside the hardware, we will explain what needs attention rather than conceal it with an adjustment.

Panic Bar Installation questions
My door needs to open with a push. What happens on the inside?
We fit a panic bar so pressure on the push surface releases the latch. You should be able to push through in the direction of exit without turning a knob. The opening needs enough clear space for the door to swing, so keep furniture and stored items out of its path.
Our exit needs to stay locked from outside. Can people still get out from inside?
We can set up the exit so it releases from inside while the outside remains secured. One choice is to have no operating grip on the exterior. Another is to provide controlled entry from outside. Those choices affect how people enter, not whether the inside push surface is intended to release the exit.
I want an outside handle with a key. What choices would I have for entry?
We look at the available outside grip functions with you before choosing the hardware. Some versions unlock for entry and remain unlocked until secured again. Others require the key for each entry. The choice affects how you manage access during the day and who needs a key to get in.
My business has a pair of doors. Does each side need its own exit device?
We check how each leaf is used and whether both need to open independently. The two sides may need different hardware to work together, particularly where one closes against the other. We also look at any existing bolts that hold one side in place, since they can affect how that side opens.
My exit sticks and drags along the floor. Should I force it open?
We check where it rubs and whether it closes and latches properly before choosing an installation approach. Do not force it or prop it open to get around the problem. A device alone will not correct a dragging exit, and the opening may need separate repair before the hardware can operate as intended.
